Here's the scoop on a new Oklahoma oil play

The South Central Oklahoma Oil Province, or Scoop, is shaping up to be a productive oil play region for natural gas liquid production, according to a presenter at recent Tulsa energy conference. The area is an extension of the Cana Woodford play, said speaker Joe Schimelpfening, senior vice president at Eagle Rock Energy Partners LP

Natural gas liquids are an essential part of plastic manufacturing, Schimelpfening noted, and the Scoop play is perfect for horizontal drilling.

The Scoop play was originally thought to run from Canadian to Blaine counties, but drilling has shifted further southeast from Grady County to Carter County,  Schimelpfening added.
