Construction to begin on Broken Arrow convention center

A $26 million hotel and convention center is set to be built in Broken Arrow after a decade of planning and delays. The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce announced the project will be on eight acres near Bass Pro Shops.

It will include a five-story, 150-room hotel. The hotel will have an attached conference room. In all, the project will include 35,000 square feet.

In a public-private sponsorship, the city will buy the land and provide the infrastructure. Stoney Creek Hospitality, a Des Moines, Iowa-based developer, will handle construction and operation of the property. It is set for completion in late 2016.

A measure to build the conference center was approved by voters in 2004. An economic downturn in the following years delayed the project.
