Zipcar zips onto OU campus in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. — Zipcar has launched its car-sharing network on the Norman campus under a new partnership with the University of Oklahoma. The transportation option is now available 24/7 for students, faculty and staff ages 18 and older, and for Norman-area residents 21 and older.

Two Ford Focus hatchbacks and two Hyundai Elantras will be available, and the Zipcars will have designated parking spots just north of Huston Huffman Fitness Center for pickup and return. Cars can be reserved for an hour or for multiple days. OU students, faculty and staff can join Zipcar here for $15.

Rates for Zipcar vehicles on campus start as low as $7.50 per hour and $69 per day with gas, insurance and up to 180 miles of driving per day included.

OU student organizations will have the opportunity to participate in the “Students With Drive” grant program sponsored by Zipcar and Ford. It provides students with Zipcar membership and driving credit to support student organizations on campus. The program will award $200,000 in grants to student organizations at eligible Zipcar colleges and universities.
