FedEx Ground delivering distribution hub, new jobs to Broken Arrow
BROKEN ARROW, Okla – The Tulsa metro area is adding more distribution jobs with a new FedEx Ground facility in Broken Arrow, The Tulsa World reports. FedEx Ground plans to open a 250,000-square-foot distribution hub in Broken Arrow by August 2017.
As yet, FedEx isn’t sure how many employees will be hired but Wes Smithwick, Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said the chamber expects employment numbers could be “substantial.” Check here for career info.
“The new facility will complement an existing station in Tulsa, enabling us to continue to meet and exceed customer demands in the area,” said the company statement. “The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees.
“The new facility is part of a nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network.”
The company has operations at and around Tulsa International Airport. FedEx said, “Since 2005, the company has opened 12 new hubs featuring advanced material-handling systems and expanded or relocated more than 500 local facilities.”
